In recent years, some celebrities who were known in the secular world have met their point of transition which has made them to make a journey towards the projection of the Gospel. This article features six top Ghanaian celebrities who are now committed preachers of the gospel of Christ.
1 LORD KENYA
Lord Kenya was one of the very influential hip life sensations in Ghana. He joined Hip life music in 1998 and released his debut album Sika Baa which instantly became one of the nations hits. Being addicted to indian hemp and cocaine, Lord Kenya never thought of making a journey towards the gospel until he encountered God on his usual visit to his ghetto. Lord Kenya walked away from music in 2010 after turning Christian.
According to Lord Kenya, his call to evangelism started when he went to his regular wee base to get his supply of the stuff after seeing off a friend. On His way, he was hit by lightning which made him to fall flat even though he tried getting up on his kneels which proved futile. After the incident, He refused to take his usual supply of wee that night but was rather convicted by the Holy Spirit to a nearby Church in his neighborhood called Boanerges Gospel Ministry where he was warmly welcomed and received. Lord Kenya has since then become a great evangelist in projecting the good news.
2 TIMOTHY BENTUM
Timothy Bentum is one of the renowned movie actors in the Ghanaian movie industry. Most people know him for his good acting ability and passionate delivery in movies.
In recent times, the actor has been spotted preaching on so many platforms sharing his experiences as well as projecting Christ.
Like some biblical figures met their moment of transformation, Timothy Bentum has disclosed how he became born again by neglecting his old ways and receiving Christ. The actor who was once a drug addict confessed that, He grew up in a Christian home with a good foundation on teachings of Christ and a constant exposure to morning devotion yet He found himself in the path opposte what he was trained for.
Talking of his moment of transformation, Timothy has disclosed that, ” One Sunday morning, I was walking to the ghetto to get some cocaine and then I met a friend who used to come to my house to eat. He was going to church with his wife and kids and then I wondered what had changed for him because we used to be together?
“The devil has a cunning way of stealing you away so slowly that you don’t know how fast or far you have fallen until the light of God comes until the light of God comes through. It always start with a little desire for something and then you realise you are craving for it the more. “That morning, there was a blast in my head. I went back home and I cried. I told God that if He could hear me, then it was time for Him to take me back. God came through for me,”
He added that his recovery was so miraculous, that he suffered no withdrawal symptoms despite being addicted for 12 years, something he attributed to the hand of God.
After being saved, Bentum went into Ministry, setting up the Timothy Bentum Ministries (TBM). TBM organises the annual Actors, Presenters, Professionals and Musicians for Christ (APPMC) event, where celebrities gather to try and win souls for Christ.
3 MAGID MICHEL.
Award winning Ghanaian actor Majid Michel is one of the Ghanaian actors who got into the film industry during the period in which Frank Rajah Arase signed a contract with Ghana’s Abdul Salam Mumuni of Venus Films. Majid Michel was one of the driving force behind the patronage of Ghollywood movies. However news broke out on 4th October 2016 when He was seen ministering at a church Zoe Chapel International located at Lapaz Tabora Number 4. Majid was spotted ministering at church, He started broadcasting the gospel on his social media account before moving from different churches to preach. According to the renowned actor, He had a great sense of guilt that limited his sinful nature. He said He fell a couple of times but could not continue. Majid didnt go through any personal encounter of seeing visions before he turned a new leaf, He believe He was called into ministry and has since been pursuing his purpose.
