One of Africa’s greatest musical gifts to the world and head pastor of Rock Hill church in Atlanta Dr. Sonnie Badu is a global musical icon known for his spirit filled music and powerful vocal ability.
Dr. Sonnie Badu encountered his musical breakthrough from his hit song “BABA”. Indeed it must be accepted that, Baba has always been one of the favorite songs of worship leaders and the entire Christian fraternity for years now. The impact of “BABA” is always strong anytime the song is played or ministered at any Christian gathering even after years of release.
Dr. Sonnie Badu has disclosed in an interview with Dentaa that, lot of time, energy and prayers was invested into the song before it was officially released. Dr.Sonnie Badu is however of the view that, every musician requires patience, time investment, hard work and prayers before every song release. In the interview with Dentaa Sonnie Badu said;
“When it comes to music, it is not you that buys the song, it is people who buy it, and so it is appropriate to listen to the right people when you are recording a song. When Kwame Yeboah was recording my song, I am not exaggerating I sang BABA for over 350 times and Kwame said it was not good enough I should sing it again. I felt He was punishing me but after the song was recorded, I realized He indeed made an impact on the Song, Kwame Yeboah is a great mentor”.
Dr. Sonnie Badu believes that patience is a great element in every musical career. He has therefore admonished gospel musicians not to be in a haste to sprung into lime light but work hard behind the scene for the appropriate time for public display. Dr Sonnie Badu reiterated in his interview with Dentaa that, it took him a year to record his album ‘BABA” and years on the song still appears fresh anytime it is played or sang.
Dr. Sonnie Badu has asserted that, vocal lessons is a good practice for every good musician because music is an everyday activity with new skills coming up each time. Dr Sonnie Badu is preparing for one of the biggest global gospel concert dubbed INVASION.
INVASION is one of the anticipated events in 2019 with expected song ministrations from Joe Mettle, Tim Godfrey, Jonathan Nelson, Tye Tribett, Joe Praize, PhilThompson, JJ Hairston, Eben, Todd Dulaney, Preye and Sonnie Badu. The invasion concert is slated for 6th July in Washington DC.
