Sonnie Badu Memorializes Sammie Okposo In His Latest Single, “Welu Welu”
Internationally acclaimed gospel singer, Sonnie Badu on the heels of his comeback single has released another song he calls “Welu Welu”.
The new song like his comeback single “My Confidence”, was featured in his live performance at the Safari Experience Gospel Concert, Buckhead Theatre, Atlanta Georgia.
“Welu Welu” originally from a Nigerian native language was inspired from Sammie Okposo.
Sammie Okposo (30 May 1971 – 25 November 2022) was a Nigerian gospel artist who initially became a soundtrack producer in the Nigerian movie industry and later switched in making music.
He released his first album, “Unconditional Love,” in 2000, with the hit single “Welu welu,” shaking up the gospel music business in Nigeria owing to becoming a house hold name and subsequently winning a number of awards.
Dr. Sonnie Badu however did not disappoint his fans with his unique style of sound as he showcased his vocals prowess, delivering his heartfelt rendition over one of the popular gospel praises line “…Some people ask me sey, wetin dey make me fine, I just dey tell them sey, Jesus dey make me fine…”
