The debate as to whether it is right to pay church instrumentalist has been a topic of interest to many of people in the Christian fraternity in Ghana. The argument seem to attract the attention each day as renowned gospel artiste Empress Gifty adds her voice to the ongoing battle of thoughts and opinions.
In an interview with Halifax at Okay Fm on 15th January 2020, Empress Gifty has cleared the air with regards to the ongoing argument. The renowned gospel artiste is of the view that, pastors and other stake holders in the church are cheating instrumentalist and taking advantage of their talent by not putting them on a pay roll. She further reiterated that, instrumentalist just like any other person has responsibilities and as such they must be accordingly honored for their service to the church.
She said, ”It is unfair to exploit the talent of instrumentalists in the church without putting them on a pay roll. Most of them have responsibilities he to perform and therefore must be duly honored. Instrumentalist play a key role in the development of the church hence refusing to pay them is a cheat. The same goes to gospel artiste who refuses to pay their instrumentalist’.
Empress Gifty has pleaded with her fellow gospel artiste, pastors and other stake holders in the church to give some respect and honor to instrumentalist who plays for the church.
